
Limavady - Where Music Met Nature
Limavady is a historic market town on the banks of the River Roe, best known as the place where the famous "Londonderry Air" (melody for Danny Boy) was first written down in 1851. Jane Ross heard a travelling fiddler play the tune in the town and transcribed it, preserving one of the most beloved melodies in Irish music.
Today, Limavady serves as a gateway to the North Coast, with the stunning Roe Valley Country Park on its doorstep and excellent access to the Causeway Coast.
