Crom Estate: Fermanagh's Natural Treasure
Crom Estate encompasses nearly 2,000 acres of pristine parkland, ancient woodland, and lakeshore habitats along the shores of Upper Lough Erne. Managed by the National Trust as one of Ireland's most important conservation areas.
The Old Castle Ruins
The romantic ruins of Old Crom Castle stand on a peninsula jutting into Upper Lough Erne. Built in 1611, the castle was destroyed during the Williamite War in 1689. Beside the ruins stand two extraordinary yew trees, among the oldest in Ireland at an estimated 800 years old.
Ancient Woodland
Crom's oak woodland has grown continuously on this site for at least 400 years. Red squirrels thrive here, one of their last strongholds in Ireland. Pine martens have recently recolonised the estate.
Upper Lough Erne
The estate's extensive lakeshore provides access to Upper Lough Erne. The boat house offers seasonal boat hire, allowing visitors to explore the lough from the water.
